Equinox equal to or better than its competitors
The tested Equinox was a mid-level front-drive 2LT version, which had a $26,190 starting price. Full safety equipment is standard: stability and traction control, anti-lock brakes, tire-pressure monitoring, side air bags, side-curtain air bags and a rear-view camera. The price also included automatic climate control, Bluetooth and GM's OnStar communications, a premium audio system, satellite radio, remote locking and engine starting, cruise control, eight-way power driver's seat, auto-dimming inside mirror and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The 15 hot cars to watch in 2010
If the economy recovers, 2010 could be a very good year for Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co., both of which are poised to launch new high-volume, high-mpg vehicles next year. Cars like the Chevrolet Cruze and Ford Focus compacts, with the promise of low prices and stingy fuel consumption, seem perfectly suited to the mood of the times. Chrysler hopes to rekindle buyers' passions with new versions of the Chrysler 300C and Dodge Charger.

As the summer ends, my favorite season slides into its place. I speak of fall, the time of year when days get shorter and kids go back to school. Although summer is winding down, the shows aren't. Nay, this never means the end to events revolving around internal combustion engines! Forget the big seasonal rod shows; we have plenty left on the roster in our own backyard. From rat rods to real clean Vettes, it's still going on folks.

Capturing cars: Murphy Auto Museum
Lance Lambert of the VCS Wheels crew visits the Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard, to check out its collection of vintage cars, trucks and motorcycles. The museum features a collection of classic cars such as the 1902 Indian motorcycle, 1975 Datsun pickup truck, 1953 Bentley R Type and 1914 Ford Model T.
